If you are like me who loves to scribble notes, messages or grocery lists and stick them onto the refrigerator door, well, you are going to love the Chalkboard Wallies. It is one of my dreams to have a home by the beach.  I love the sea, sand and blue sky.  What is more wonderful than spending days at the beach basking under the warmth of the sun and having salt water lapping at my feet as I walk on the white sand.  My beach home will have a tropical decor filled with furniture made from natural materials such as rattan, banana leaf, seagrass or bamboo. Tropical decor offers a sense of peace and tranquility to a home.  I want my home to have large plants such as Areca or Coconut plants in bamboo nesting square planters like below.  Wicker baskets are also excellent options for furnishing a tropical beach home.  When I think of my dream home, I feel like going on a Caribbean holiday or join one of those Caribbean cruises.  So, what does your dream home looks like?

A friend of mine works as a chef in a popular restaurant in town.  Recently, he held a party at his new apartment and invited many friends over, me included. Needless to say, he cooked the food himself which was really delicious.  I ate so much that I needed to take some natural appetite suppressant the next day.  Besides serving good food, my friend even got everyone talking about the PopArts Recycled Paper Placemats which he used. I saw the beautiful book creations by Lisa Occhipini via Apartment Therapy and was really smitten.   The old and unwanted books are turned into lively piece of art.  She has created mobiles, hanging spheres and table sculptures from them.  Each one is individually made.  What a brilliant and creative way to reuse found objects. The warm weather is here and I just love spending some quiet time on my front porch.  I have a wooden bench on the porch and it has been with us for the last 10 years.  I would like to give my porch a makeover and was bloghopping to some of my favourite blogs a while ago to get some inspiration.  I saw these 2 images from Morewaystowastetime.blogspot.com.  Love the hanging lanterns and the rustic bamboo chair.

Below is another lovely porch from DesignSpongeOnline.com.  I love how the owner of this home has used mismatched chairs which she bought from a thrift store for the porch.   I think I will look for a few chairs in various design and shapes for mine.  Perhaps a rocking chair too   Can’t wait to see how my porch will look like.  It will be great to sit out there for hours, reading a book or liporexall review or watch the clouds go by.

I just attended another housewarming party over the weekend.  My good friend and her family have moved into a 5100 sq. ft. home recently.  Her house is tastefully decorated with lots of dark wood furniture and it has an Asian-inspired theme.  My friend also uses many wall decals such as the ones below in her home.

Lovely, ain’t it?  The wall decal is from Etsy.  There are also wall decals in the master bedroom, children’s bedroom as well as the washroom.  They even have a dog in their new house which is the wish of her 10-year-old daughter eventhough my friend is not very fond of having pets.  She even bought many Frontline Plus flea control as she does not want the dog to get any fleas/ticks.  They got a really cool doghouse for the pooch but unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures of it.
