Summer is finally here.  It is time to enjoy the wonderful weather and beauty of nature.  I love sitting at the porch in the evening  enjoying the summer air with a cup of coffee, reading the papers or a magazine or a write-up on Gulf Coast Jones Act.  Are you ready to re-decorate your living space or just want to give your house a fresh makeover when the warm breeze blows?  Here are a few ways to refresh your home with colors.

Add a colorful rug in your room

Brighten up the entrance with Teal paint on an old Hall Tree.

Paint one wall in eye-catching color to create a focal point

Accessorize with colors.  Simply choose a few colorful accessories such as throw pillows or vase and place them throughout the room.

With these simple changes, your room will become fresh and comfortable for you to enjoy the summer.

I came across these beautiful lamps from House and Garden Australia.  Yes, I love all things made from bamboo, seagrass and wood, in case you don’t know.  If you were to come to my house, you will be greeted with lots of knick knacks made from these material.  I have a lot of bamboo baskets to keep my bills, letters, keys as well as wooden crates to store toys, personalized soccer balls, books, magazines and more.  Sorry, I side-tracked a bit.  Let’s get back to these beautiful lamps from the Top 50 Rooms Review by House and Garden Australia.

I love to look at the kitchens in other people’s home.  They give me an idea on how to decorate mine.  Well, if I have the chance, I would want to renovate my existing kitchen because I do not quite like mine.  The kitchens below really inspire me.  I saw them at one of my favorite home decor blogs but I forgot which one.

I was browsing my favorite decor blogs last night and came across so many wonderful decors which left me so inspired.  I am amazed at the creativity of these talented home owners.  They have created homes which beckons you at the end of a long day.  I can picture myself in one of these homes, relaxing or curled up on the sofa reading a book or hydroxycut side effects review. I am so inspired to try these new home decorating ides.  My favorite is the DIY Coffee Tables made from pallets.

I love the eclectic look of these mismatched bookcases.

My laptop sits on my dining table because I do not have a proper workstation.  Yes, I do my work or read up on disability insurance at my dining table. Actually I do not have enough space in my home for a workstation so when I saw this multi-functional stand from Urbancase.com, I am hooked (no pun intended).  This wall-hung piece can be used as a TV stand, entryway table or even a bookshelf.  It has a drawer unit on the left, a drop-down pull out shelf on the right and also space for cables.  Pretty neat eh?  I am going to check out more information on this now.

When not kept or stored properly, toys can take up the whole room if not the whole house.  Besides storage containers, hammock is a popular way to store children’s toys.  Hammock works well for homes with lack of floor space.  It can be a neat and attractive way to encourage the child to clean up and straighten their room.   So, if you are looking for a different way to keep the toys neatly in the playroom or the bedroom, check out some toys hammock.

Stylish Way To Store Your Jewelry

I found another brilliant tip from Martha Stewart on how to store your jewelry.  If you have many orphaned teacups and saucers, do not throw them away.  Though you cannot use them to keep your prenatal vitamins, these teacups and saucers are just perfect for sorting your jewelry.  Just arrange them in your drawer and you will get to spot your jewelry right away.  Line your drawer with felt or velvet to prevent sliding.  Neat eh?  Drop earrings can be hooked on the rims of the cups.  It is time for me to take out all my jewelry and do some spring cleaning.

Bamboo Steamers As Storage Bins

I just love this idea from Martha Stewart’s blog.   If you don’t know already, I love using furniture or knick-knacks made from bamboo or wood.  I was going through some tips on how to organize the kitchen at Martha’s blog, I was delighted to see how she use a bamboo steamer to store onions, shallots and garlic.  How come I never thought of using this eh?  Bamboo steamers have holes which let the air in or out when steaming.  Therefore, these steamers are just perfect for storing items which require ventilation.   You can place a tray or plate at the bottom to catch flaking skins or perhaps line it with paper towels.  Ok, I am going out to get a few bamboo steamers soon.
