Storage Ideas From Ikea Hackers

I was looking for ideas on how to add storage space to my home over the weekend and found a few great tips from Ikea Hackers.  I find these ideas very cool and can’t wait to try them out.

Using Ikea’s Spice Rack as storage for books.  The bookcases make it easy for little hands to reach for the books.

This is a really awesome idea.  The owners of this home wanted a dining table with lots of storage space.   So, they used an Expedit bookcase on its side as storage base for a kitchen/dining counter.

Lack Shelving units as shoe cabinets.  This shelving unit can hold many shoes and it is something which I need for my ever-growing shoe collection.

This is not about storage but I love how colourful the Marius stool is now.

Decorating With Mismatched Chairs

Before I start to re-arrange my home audio speakers, I thought I’ll do a post regarding mismatched chairs.  I would love to have mismatched chairs for my dining room.  It is pretty eclectic and make a fun statement.  I first came across a table with mismatched chairs in Friends, the tv sitcom.  Remember Monica’s apartment?  I would love to stay in an apartment like that and her dining table and chairs are just awesome.  Do you have mismatched dining chairs in your home?

The weekend has passed too quickly.  Hope you all had a fun time.  I did some spring cleaning around the house and managed to clear some stuff.  My shoe closet is so full that I really need to have another one soon but there is no space at the moment.  I dislike seeing shoes being left around on the floor.  While my spouse was busy looking for urban clothes, I went online to look for a solution to my footwear storage.  I found this cool Horizontal Shoerack from J-Me.co.uk.   This shoe rack let the shoes ‘float’ and can hold up to 7 pairs of shoes.  It is a great shoe rack for small spaces. I think I ought to get this.  What do you think?

Someday, when I get to build my own home, I want a home with white walls, wooden flooring and lots of windows.  I love having lots of lights coming in from the windows.  My dream home will be filled with colourful cushions on a white or brown sofas.  I also want to decorate my home with scraps that are turned into home decor items.  Something like this is what I love.

Many times when I past by some factories near where I work, I would see pallets being thrown away.  I am so tempted to bring a few pallets home but my car is not big enough to lug them.  There are so much we can do with these pallets.  I have seen many creative bloggers posting about turning pallets into coffee tables, chairs and storage.  Just last night, after looking for Blue Cross Blue Shield NC online, I decided to take a break and check out some of the decor blogs.  To my surprised, I saw this lovely pallet headboard at Stylizimo.blogspot.com.  I love this rustic and stylish look in the bedroom.  I am inspired again!

a nice spot in the kitchen

I always dream of having a small space in the kitchen or the dining area for breakfast or a quick meal.  I would love to sit by the window, have a cuppa while reading the newspaper, a book or the adapexin-p review. Sadly, when we renovated our house, we did not have enough space for a breakfast nook.  One of the to-do things in my list should we move to a new home in the future is to allocate a cozy spot in the kitchen for my daily caffeine fix.

I am loving the floor tiles in this kitchen too.

It has been rather quiet these few days.  After all the craziness and sad events that have been happening in the world lately, some quiet time is good to reflect on our daily lives.  To help keep my sanity, I blog hopped to my favourite blogs to look at the beautiful things which make me happy.  Guess what?  I found these…

I went over to my friend’s apartment over the weekend for lunch.  Had a great time with her and I really like how she decorates her home.  My friend is taking a teaching degree online and she spends a lot of time at home for now.  Besides studying online, she also dabbles in some crafts.  She loves to scour the flea market to look for precious items to decorate her home which is filled with many teak and wood furniture.  What I really like is her wooden bed from FourHands.com.  It features a rustic headboard with storage under the bed.  If you are interested in decorating your home with furniture made from reclaimed wood, you may want to check out FourHands.com.

I was supposed to look up some cheap eyeglasses for my sister but I hopped over to my favourite decor blogs instead.  Whilst there, I spotted a lovely home that is filled with colourful decors.  I can so live in a home like this.  The best room in that charming house is its kitchen.  I would love to have a kitchen like.

I just love this cheerful looking 5ft x 10ft kitchen.

The dish rack on the wall is so cool.
