I just chanced upon this new blog called Dreamy Whites and needless to say, I am charmed.  I love how she decorates her home with vintage items.  It is very inspiring.   She posted about her dining table and oh how I love all the mismatched dining chairs.  I have a thing for mismatched chairs.  I wonder if  I could find any unique chairs on Black Friday Thanksgiving Deal next week. I would love to get a few mismatched chairs as they make the table more interesting, add a lot of character and interest too.

In my previous post, I talked about the lovely dream home which was transformed from a garage.  Most of the items found in the home were refurbished or repurposed.  What caught my eyes while looking at the pictures of the home were these beautiful metal lockers.  While it was not mentioned what the lockers are for, I presume that they are used to store clothes and linens.  Isn’t that an awesome idea?

I saw another red one too.  Would love to have them in my home.

I love distressed furniture.  It is a great way to decorate the home.  Distressed furniture creates a look that appears to be from years of use.  It creates a warm cozy atmosphere.  I wonder where I could find a distressed computer table to hold the epson printers in my home office? Perhaps I should start learning how to distressed my furniture.  Anyway, if you are a fan of French Shabby Chic furniture, I am sure you would also love the distressed furniture I found while blog-hopping.

Home Makeover For Better Job Prospect

My friend’s sister who majors in Information Technology has been on the lookout for  IT Jobs over the last couple of months but was not successful.  My friend, a believer in Feng Shui told her sister that perhaps she should give her home a makeover.  Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy.  It is the art of enhancing lives by creating harmony and balance in our environment.   It encourages positive flow of energy throughout your home.   My friend’s sister loves black and grey.  She has a grey wall, dark colour sofa and etc.  So my friend suggested that she adds some colours to her living area by using colourful cushions and rugs.  Her sister should also open the blinds more often and let the sun shine in.  This will activate the yang chi of joy and happiness in her home.  An indoor fountain in a favourable area of her home is good to attract the things she desires.   My friend’s sister did just that last weekend and hopefully she will hear some good news very soon.

Love this decor from Kate Spade.  A bright orange wall, some colourful cushions or perhaps a bright colour chair are enough to brighten up the room.

I came across this really beautiful movie seats from Etsy.com.  They were salvaged from a movie theater in Chicago that has been closed down since the 50’s.  The arms on these chairs are numbered 4,5,6 & 7.  Each chair folds up and they can be mounted on the floor or boards.  If you would like add some vintage touch to your home decor, these antique movie chairs are just what you need.

I was surfing the internet last night and came upon this cool website – Swarm.com by Dutch artist, Leslie Oschmann, which features reclaim items made new in Amsterdam.  Vintage objects found in Dutch flea markets and French homes are recreated whilst preserving its natural charm.  I love its chair collection.  Original oil paintings are used to cover the chairs.  How unique eh?

I love all of them which are made by laminating paintings onto the surfaces.  It would be awesome to have a few pieces in my home. I can just imagine myself sitting on this chair, reading the african mango reviews or my favourite book.

I was at Remodelista.com and came across this beautiful handmade bench by Greg Hatton, a furniture maker and landscaper.   I just love its rustic look.  I wish to have a bench like this in my home.  I can see myself relaxing on this bench, reading a book or acetyl l carnitine review and enjoying a cuppa.  This bench would look great on the porch or the entryway.

I also love these  blue drawers made from reclaimed crates

One of the fastest and easiest way to immediately change the look of your room is to replace your existing chair pads and cushions.   Chair cushions and pads are available in many styles and colours.  Therefore, they are great accessories to add colour or alter the look of your room.  So, if you are looking to spruce up your patio, all you have to do is change the outdoor chair cushions.  Chair cushions are very affordable these days and is definitely cheaper than repainting the walls or changing the floor.

Summer is finally here.  It is time to enjoy the wonderful weather and beauty of nature.  I love sitting at the porch in the evening  enjoying the summer air with a cup of coffee, reading the papers or a magazine or a write-up on Gulf Coast Jones Act.  Are you ready to re-decorate your living space or just want to give your house a fresh makeover when the warm breeze blows?  Here are a few ways to refresh your home with colors.

Add a colorful rug in your room

Brighten up the entrance with Teal paint on an old Hall Tree.

Paint one wall in eye-catching color to create a focal point

Accessorize with colors.  Simply choose a few colorful accessories such as throw pillows or vase and place them throughout the room.

With these simple changes, your room will become fresh and comfortable for you to enjoy the summer.
