I am supposed to check out the eotech sights as a Father’s Day gift but I thought I’ll share with you what I really want this summer.  It is none other than a hammock.  I just love lounging in one.  A hammock is so relaxing.  There is nothing better than resting on a hammock, reading a book or just do nothing.  It would be great to have one inside the house.  Yeah, I know a hammock is usually on the porch but I would prefer some privacy.  I saw this photo at Apartment Therapy earlier today.

Isn’t this lovely?

I was blog-hopping to my favourite online stores and saw a few things which I love.  They are from Anthropologie.com.  Below are what I love to have in my home.

This Cement Paper Hurricane is actually a glass for candle.  Made from woven strips torn from paper bags.

Love this sea grass woven tumbler

Knotted Melati Hanging Chair made from macrame. Perfect for enjoying the summer breezes.

Woven Sunflower Basket made from bamboo.  Great for serving crackers or chips at outdoor parties.

Can you spot any similarities in these items? Well, they are all woven or made from materials like bamboo, sea grass or  recycled paper. They are all natural materials and environmentally-friendly.

One of the things that really irks me and is driving me up the wall is a tangled mess of cords.  It does not help that I have a laptop on the dining table and another netbook in the living area.  There are just too many cables running all over the place.  I think what I need is this AppleCore Cable Managers.  It comes in 3 different sizes and shades.    The AppleCore Cable Managers are specifically designed to handle all household appliances and are good for long or extra long cables around the house.   Available at Apple-Cores.com

If you are looking for ideas on how to create a headboard, well look no further than this cool idea from Sunset.com.  Just arrange a few small light weight mirrors on the wall.  Don’t they look glamorous?  Reminds me of one of the hotels I stayed in last summer.  Mirrors are simple and easy to install.  They can also make a room look more spacious.

If you do not know already, I am obsessed with anything that is made from straw  or grass. While searching for barcode scanners, I hopped over to one of my favourite retail stores, Free People’s blog and saw the beautiful displays in their new store in Houston.  There were many straw basket lights hanging from their ceiling. The bottoms of the baskets have been painted with colours and hung on the wall too.   These basket pendant lights are just awesome!

Beautiful and creative

They are great as planters too.

I just love this idea very much.  I hope to find some of these baskets for my home.

Summer is here.  This means there will be plenty of beautiful weather ahead.  It is a good idea to get the kids playing outside instead of spending time inside the house and watching tv or playing with computer games.  Let them enjoy some fresh air outdoor by climbing, jumping and playing on the swing sets.  Those are good ways to keep the kids from getting bored at home.   If you are looking for some backyard fun for your kids this summer, then you may want to check out the swing set installation new york at Best In Backyards. It is a fun way for the children to get some exercise to stay in shape and keep active.

Recently, I have taken a liking to branches.  When I visit some of my favourite home decor blogs, I feel very inspired by their creativity.  Some use branches to decorate their homes and some use them to decorate their wedding party.  Just a few days ago, a neighbour was pruning her trees and I managed to get a few branches from her.  Then I went to HouseTweaking.com and found a few cool and organic ideas on how to decorate using branches.  Hope you like them too.
