The weekend has passed too quickly.  Hope you all had a fun time.  I did some spring cleaning around the house and managed to clear some stuff.  My shoe closet is so full that I really need to have another one soon but there is no space at the moment.  I dislike seeing shoes being left around on the floor.  While my spouse was busy looking for urban clothes, I went online to look for a solution to my footwear storage.  I found this cool Horizontal Shoerack from J-Me.co.uk.   This shoe rack let the shoes ‘float’ and can hold up to 7 pairs of shoes.  It is a great shoe rack for small spaces. I think I ought to get this.  What do you think?

It has been rather quiet these few days.  After all the craziness and sad events that have been happening in the world lately, some quiet time is good to reflect on our daily lives.  To help keep my sanity, I blog hopped to my favourite blogs to look at the beautiful things which make me happy.  Guess what?  I found these…

I love to having rattan or seagrass baskets around my home.  They are so handy and aesthetically pleasing.  I buy baskets of different shapes and sizes and they are in my living area, bathroom, kitchen, etc.  I found several images of baskets in my favourite decor blogs and I just love them.

I heart the open shelving filled with baskets to keep things organized in the kitchen.  They are great for storing kitchen towels, household supplies, appetite suppressant pills or more. Image via Design Sponge.

Baskets as wall art? Who would have thought eh?  Image via Style Files.

Decorating With Books

Here is a very clever way to create a focal point in your home.  I saw this image at SkonaHem.com.  I like how the books are stacked haphazardly on top one another. One of the books is opened with some pages rolled in.  Pretty I say.  Complete the look with 2 lamps sans the shades.  Hmm…I think I am going to give this a try in my home.

Do you know what I love about the above photo?  Everything!  I saw this at one of my favourite decor blogs, Simply Grove a while ago.  I love how the flour and grain sacks are used as pillow covers.  They go so well with the wooden sofa.  Can you spot the pallets?  They are stacked together to create a coffee table.  How cool is that?   The little red lantern at the side adds a lil Asian touch to the decor.  Would love to a similar sofa in my home.  I can so picture myself sitting on it, reading a book or strivectin sd reviews while sipping a cup of coffee. Bliss.

While my other half was busy shopping online for tablet laptops, I was on the other computer looking for a housewarming gift for my friend.  She has just moved into her first home, a split unit condominium in the city with her husband.  I really like this Float Magazine Rack from SF Moma Museum Store.  Made of chrome coated steel, this rack is modern and has a minimalist design.  A unique way to keep the magazines organized.  Check out SF Moma Museum Store if you like one for your home too.

Home Makeover For Spring

Spring is almost here.  Are you getting ready to welcome the warmer weather?  After being cooped up inside the house during winter, I really look forward to Spring.  There is nothing better than soaking up the sun rays and warm temperature while they last.  It is time to clean up the yard, wash the patio furniture and welcome the new season with some cheery touches around the home.  Some of the things in my to-do list is to get chair slipcover, replace the drapes with sheers, roll up the rug and clean out the fireplace.  I saw this beautiful living room decor from HouseBeautiful.com and feel very inspired.  I think I am going to get a few of these wicker footstool from Crate and Barrel in my living room.  They can serve as side tables too.

Throwing A Party At Home

While the spouse was busy looking up the karaoke machines for our party which will be held in a week’s time, I was checking out some party decorating ideas online. I found another great idea from Martha Stewart.  I can put some flowers in a small drinking glass and then use a Chinese paper lantern to cover the glass.   This is a lovely Asian-inspired theme.

I also like the idea of using floating candles to lit up the dinner table.

Great ideas huh?  If you are looking for some inspiration, do check out Martha Stewart.
