I love using things that are made from bamboo, grass and wood.  As such you would find many baskets or wooden crates in my home.  I just love having them in my house.  They are beautiful, sustainable, great for storing things as well as adding a touch of warmth to any room.  I use a lot of baskets to keep my magazines, Canon camera, fruits, knick-knacks and many other loose items around the home.  Actually these baskets can be used in many places around the home such as the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.   I saw many neat basket storage solutions at Better Homes and Gardens.  Here are a few of my favorites.

In my previous post, I mentioned that birdcages are popularly used as home decor items these days.  They are a very sweet piece of home decor for those who want to add a whimsical touch to their home.  Whether they are hanging from the ceiling, placed on the table or on the floor, birdcages will add a very chic vibe in your home.  Some even use birdcages to display cupcakes or cakes in the kitchen.  There are many types of birdcages available, from wooden to metal.   I bought a birdcage made from bamboo and spray-painted it white for decoration in my living room.   This is because a friend of mine who is into fengshui told me that a white birdcages at home enhances prosperity.   I hope this is true and we’ll see how it goes.

I saw a really lovely organizer from Pottery Barn recently.  This organizer was inspired by the ones used at the front-desk in hotels.  It is great to be used to display photos or any knick-knacks in your living area, for the office or even as kitchen storage.  Each cubbies is detailed with hand-painted numbers.   Finished with a rich stain that highlights the wood’s natural grain, I love its distressed look.   Want to find out more? Just go here.

Summer is finally here.  It is time to enjoy the wonderful weather and beauty of nature.  I love sitting at the porch in the evening  enjoying the summer air with a cup of coffee, reading the papers or a magazine or a write-up on Gulf Coast Jones Act.  Are you ready to re-decorate your living space or just want to give your house a fresh makeover when the warm breeze blows?  Here are a few ways to refresh your home with colors.

Add a colorful rug in your room

Brighten up the entrance with Teal paint on an old Hall Tree.

Paint one wall in eye-catching color to create a focal point

Accessorize with colors.  Simply choose a few colorful accessories such as throw pillows or vase and place them throughout the room.

With these simple changes, your room will become fresh and comfortable for you to enjoy the summer.

My laptop sits on my dining table because I do not have a proper workstation.  Yes, I do my work or read up on disability insurance at my dining table. Actually I do not have enough space in my home for a workstation so when I saw this multi-functional stand from Urbancase.com, I am hooked (no pun intended).  This wall-hung piece can be used as a TV stand, entryway table or even a bookshelf.  It has a drawer unit on the left, a drop-down pull out shelf on the right and also space for cables.  Pretty neat eh?  I am going to check out more information on this now.

I do not like to see any clutter at my front door.  As important as diet pill that works, it is pertinent to keep this area of your home clear. According to Feng Shui, the door and hallway are considered the mouth of the home.  Therefore if this area is cluttered of junk, the people living in this home will feel depressed or uncomfortable.  It is best to keep things organized here and one of the best ways is to get this organizer from Studiomanzano-eboutique.fr.  It consists of a shelf to keep the magazines, 2 places for letters, 10 hooks to hang your keys and also 5 magnets to expose flyers or photos.  Neat eh?

This beautiful house in Denmark which I chanced upon at Design-Shimmer.blogspot.com is a house that I would love to stay in.  I heart its decor.  The walls, floors, doors and windows are in shades of white.  This house has a rustic look and I just love the wicker baskets around the house.  The wood furniture and brown rugs add some earthy tones in the house.  I can picture myself sitting at the dining table, enjoying my cuppa or simply reading a book or my face cream reviews. Pure bliss.

I love contemporary and functional furniture.  Stylish and comfortable, contemporary furniture are found in many modern homes today. Houseowners who want more space should consider getting contemporary furniture for their homes.  It is not easy to look for the right furniture for small space.   I really like this multi-functional ottoman at BOConcept.us.   Its flexible construction allows the ottoman to be converted into a bed when you have extra guests over.

I think I ought to get this Nest Shoe Rack for my home.  There are many shoes lying on the floor just next to my shoe cabinet because the cabinet is already full.  This shoe rack does not take up much space and can hold up to 6 pairs of shoes.  I like its unique and elegant free flowing form.   Available at designmyworld.net.
