Two days ago, I spent the evening at my girlfriend’s home.  It was so much fun having dinner at her place.  We talked about fashion, food and even mens diamond watches. I really enjoyed spending time with her especially when we dined outdoor since the weather is so nice.  On the way home, I can’t help but wish for an outdoor wooden dining table with benches and chairs, hanging d-i-y mason jar lamps and having guests over every weekend.   Wouldn’t it be great if I can eat my meal outside?

A couple of days ago, I received one of the cutest birthday party invitations ever. It has a picture of an elephant on the card. Well lately, I am just crazy over elephants.  These gentle giants just make my heart melt.  I have since jumped on the elephant bandwagon and have been looking around for elephant decors for my home.   I chanced upon a few accessories which I really like.

Summer time means spending lots of time outdoors or long evenings on the porch. If you have lots of space in your home and also love spending your time swinging away, then you may want to check out some lovely swings.   Check out this Barrel Swing from The Conran Shop.  This charming swing chair is made of recycled French oak barrel staves from Stellenbosch Winery.  It is suspended from nylon ropes.  The swing can carry a maximum weight of 350lbs.   There is nothing better than spending some cozy time with your loved ones on the swing.

Summer is here.  This means there will be plenty of beautiful weather ahead.  It is a good idea to get the kids playing outside instead of spending time inside the house and watching tv or playing with computer games.  Let them enjoy some fresh air outdoor by climbing, jumping and playing on the swing sets.  Those are good ways to keep the kids from getting bored at home.   If you are looking for some backyard fun for your kids this summer, then you may want to check out the swing set installation new york at Best In Backyards. It is a fun way for the children to get some exercise to stay in shape and keep active.

I love being surrounded by green plants in my home.  The previous apartment which I stayed in has a balcony and I had many potted plants there.  I love seeing my ‘mini jungle’ everyday.  I think if my spouse and I were not in the sales jobs, we would be spending a lot of time in a nursery or a greenhouse.  If you too love having plants in your home but is lacking in space, then you may want to check out www.Az-et-Mut.fr and get yourself a hanging garden.  Made from biological cotton, the handbags are created for balcony plants and flowers.  The bags can be easily attached to balcony railings and are light and easy to carry.

While the spouse was busy looking up the karaoke machines for our party which will be held in a week’s time, I was checking out some party decorating ideas online. I found another great idea from Martha Stewart.  I can put some flowers in a small drinking glass and then use a Chinese paper lantern to cover the glass.   This is a lovely Asian-inspired theme.

I also like the idea of using floating candles to lit up the dinner table.

Great ideas huh?  If you are looking for some inspiration, do check out Martha Stewart.

Eventhough there is still in the ground, I have been dreaming about what I want to plant in my garden this Spring.  It won’t be long before Spring arrives.  Spring  is the time for gardening.  Are you ready to start planning your garden?  Looking forward to planting bulbs to colour your garden?  This year, I may get some flowering trees such as the crape myrtle trees. I am also looking for garden accents to make my garden more beautiful. Perhaps a fountain for the Orient look.   I just cannot wait to start my gardening project.

When I was staying in a 600 sq. ft. apartment, space was very limited.  I also had a hard time finding a drying space for my clothes.  I do not fancy using the dryer and prefer to lay or hang them up to dry.  Due to space constraint, I could only use a simple drying rack which could only hold about 6 hangers and 2 pieces of clothing flat on the rack.   If you are looking for a good drying rack for your indoor or outdoor use, do check out this Free Standing Drying Rack from Organize.com.  This cleverly designed drying rack has enough space for 2 machine loads.  It also features adjustable levels to accommodate short and long items.   It can even fit inside a shower.

Christmas is less than a month away.  Are you in the decorating spirit for the Holidays already?  My favourite decoration during this season is the Christmas wreath.  I like to have one on my front door as well as above the fireplace.  This year, I plan to make a Christmas wreath with my niece who has just graduated from the medical assistance program. She is back home now after graduation so I thought it would be a good idea to get her involved in this craft.  I was at Country Living just now and spotted awesome their wreath decorating ideas using ordinary materials.

A playful felt wreath featuring a poinsettia

A wreath made from a few colour-coordinated scarves.  Just wrap the scarves around a foam base and tie, allowing the ends to hang long.

I really like this photograph wreath.  Just hot glue a few black and white photos of the family to a wire wreath form.

In my previous post, I mentioned that birdcages are popularly used as home decor items these days.  They are a very sweet piece of home decor for those who want to add a whimsical touch to their home.  Whether they are hanging from the ceiling, placed on the table or on the floor, birdcages will add a very chic vibe in your home.  Some even use birdcages to display cupcakes or cakes in the kitchen.  There are many types of birdcages available, from wooden to metal.   I bought a birdcage made from bamboo and spray-painted it white for decoration in my living room.   This is because a friend of mine who is into fengshui told me that a white birdcages at home enhances prosperity.   I hope this is true and we’ll see how it goes.
